About the Course

Welcome to Huron Shores Golf Club

A Port Sanilac Tradition Since 1925

For over a century, Huron Shores Golf Club has served as the premier destination for golfers seeking the beauty of a Northern Michigan retreat without the long drive. Nestled along the scenic M-25, our 18-hole regulation course is a testament to Michigan’s natural landscape—featuring mature hardwoods, rolling fairways, and refreshing breezes from Lake Huron.

A Course for Everyone

Originally established in 1925, Huron Shores was designed to be both a challenge for the seasoned player and an enjoyable outing for the casual golfer. Our beautifully remodeled clubhouse and classic course layout provide a professional-quality experience delivered with the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of a local landmark. We are proud to be a 100% public facility, where "there is never a stranger in the group."

The 1925 Heritage

Founded in 1925, Huron Shores Golf Club began as a vision to bring championship-caliber golf to the rugged beauty of the Lake Huron shoreline. Over the last 100 years, the course has evolved from a fledgling layout into a local landmark, maturing alongside the community of Port Sanilac.

What truly sets our "Classic Layout" apart is time itself; the towering hardwoods that once stood as saplings now frame our fairways with a majestic canopy, creating a natural cathedral for the game that few modern courses can replicate.

The "Up North" Spirit in the Thumb

While we are conveniently located just a short drive from the city, the experience here is pure "Up North." The design is intentionally "kind yet challenging"—wide, inviting fairways forgive the occasional errant drive, but the Lake Huron breezes demand respect.

  • Rolling Terrain: Unlike the flat landscapes often found in the region, our course features the unique, undulating elevation of the Thumb.
  • Lakefront Micro-climate: Cool breezes off the water don't just provide relief on summer days; they act as a "natural hazard" that affects club selection on every hole.
  • Mature Hardwoods: The course is defined by century-old trees that have grown alongside the fairways, offering a secluded, forest-like atmosphere.

The "Card-Wrecker": Our infamous 13th hole remains a testament to classic design—rewarding precision and punishing overconfidence.

A Pillar of the Port Sanilac Community

Under the stewardship of current ownership and management, Huron Shores has remained more than just a golf course; it is a vital community hub. Our commitment to the region is reflected in our partnerships with local high school teams like the CPS Tigers, and our pride in hosting staple charity events like the Port Sanilac Volunteer Fire Association and the Carsonville Lions Scramble.

From generations of families starting their weekend traditions on our putting green to the local charities that find a home for their missions in our clubhouse, we are honored to be the backdrop for the stories of Port Sanilac.

More Than Just Golf

While the course is our centerpiece, the Huron Shores experience extends into our community. From our full-service public restaurant and bar to our dedicated event hosting for weddings and charity outings, we are committed to making every visit special. Voices of the Shore

"Playing here feels like a trip to the tip of the peninsula without the five-hour drive. It’s got that authentic Up North feel—the woods, the lake air, and that quiet you just can't find anywhere else."

"We’ve hosted our fundraiser here for years, and the quality of the food at the Grill is what keeps people coming back. The Perch dinner is legendary, but the service makes us feel like family."

"It’s a course that respects the history of the game. You can feel the 1925 heritage in the way the land flows. It’s challenging enough for the low handicapper but friendly enough for my grandkids."
